Day 11

2/16/2015

Rom. 8:1  (ESV)
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Meditative thoughts:
When satan or others condemn me, what assurance did God give me through Holy Baptism that I am in Christ Jesus?   (Check out Rom. 6:3-6 and Galatians 3:26-27)
How does being in Christ Jesus bring me freedom and comfort instead of condemnation?

From Franzmann, Romans A Commentary --

Romans 8:1 " -- the new life, if it is to be life, cannot be a return to the Law. The new life is wholly and exclusively life in Christ. ---since Christ is the answer to our every need, since He is the righteousness of God for us in the beggary of our own unrighteousness -- the logic of faith asserts, if the Law condemns us, we are free from condemnation in Christ, free forever in the great "NOW" of the manifestation of righteousness of God.

Romans 3:21 -- Paul speaks of this manifestation of the righteousness of God in the perfect tense; it has taken place, once for all, with enduring results. The once-for-all historical manifestation of God's righteousness lives on and works on in the continued revelation of that righteousness in the Gospel.
