Day 2

2/7/2015

Exodus 20:8-11   (ESV)

8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but
the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”

Meditative thoughts:

What is the benefit to me [what will I gain] when I listen to this command from my God?
How am I denying and cheating myself of the strength and comfort God offers through His Word and the Sacraments?

Ps 84:1-2 "How lovely is Your tabernacle, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God."

From Higher Things Reflections: "So these are Jesus' words. The Psalms always are. They are words spoken by the Son who desires just one thing in all the world: to do the will of the Father and save sinners. Remember Jesus when He was twelve and in His Father's house? The Bible tells us that the true tabernacle is actually Jesus Himself (Jn 1:14). ...There He is, (in the Divine Service) pouring out His Holy Spirit upon you so that you, too, will love to behold the tabernacle of the Lord and be in the house of God where His good gifts are given."
